When purchasing replacement bars and chains, it is essential to match them by saw model, pitch, gauge, and drive-link count, rather than just bar length. It is also recommended to have an arborist assess large dead or overhead limbs before ice arrives, and to keep handheld chainsaws below shoulder height.
